What to expect during your office bleaching procedure

Preparing your Teeth

Before the bleaching gel is applied, Dr. Campbell will thoroughly clean your teeth to remove any plaque, tartar, or debris. This step ensures that the bleaching agent will make direct contact with the tooth surface for optimal results.

Protection for Gums and Lips

To protect your gums and lips from the bleaching agent, a dental dam or a protective gel will be applied. Dr. Campbell will carefully apply the barrier material, isolating the teeth to prevent the bleaching gel from coming into contact with sensitive tissues.

Applying the Bleaching Gel

With a multitude of services under one roof, we can not only get you out of pain, but we can restore the tooth as well

Activating the Gel

Once the bleaching gel is applied, Dr. Campbell may use a special light or heat source to activate the gel. This step helps accelerate the whitening process and may involve using a curing light or laser. The light source is generally applied for a specific duration, depending on the product being used.

Waiting Period

After activating the gel, you will need to wait for a certain amount of time to allow the bleaching agent to work. The waiting period can vary but it typically ranges from 15-30  minutes During this time, you may be provided with protective eyewear and encouraged to relax.

Multiple Applications

For optimal results we recommend repeating  the gel application and activation steps an additional time about two weeks later to achieve the desired level of whitening. This will be determined based on the initial shade of your teeth and your desired outcome.

Evaluating the Results

Once the recommended treatment duration has passed, Dr. Campbell will evaluate the results to determine if further whitening sessions are required or if the desired outcome has been achieved.  He will then remove the protective barriers, rinse your mouth, and compare the "before" and "after" shades to assess the effectiveness of the treatment.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Teeth Whitening in Salt Lake City

Many people that have bleached their teeth in the past report that it made their teeth very sensitive. One of the common side effects of bleaching is tooth sensitivity, but it is reversible. We will decide on the best ways to help prevent sensitivity and treat any that arises prior to beginning the whitening process. Generally, we can avoid sensitivity or at least minimize it.

A dental implant procedure shouldn’t be painful. Modern sedation dentistry makes sure that the procedure is entirely comfortable. In any case, we will use an anesthetic, and all you should feel is gentle vibration and pressure. Most patients report not needing to take any pain medication after the procedure and that the level of discomfort is not much different than other minor dental procedures. Once the dental implant has healed, it should feel like any other healthy tooth.

The results of whitening will last one to two years. How long it lasts will depend on your diet and how many acidic or staining foods and beverages you consume. The great thing is that if you go through our office for bleaching, we can provide you with whitening gel to touch up your smile as needed.

Yes. In fact, while whitening you are less likely to get decay and gum disease. However, as mentioned before, it can cause reversible tooth sensitivity for some patients.

At-home dentist supervised bleaching costs around $196. In-office bleaching or deep bleaching costs around $650. These prices vary according to your individual needs.

Recently visited Legacy Dental with a dental emergency. The team got me in same day and the staff was both courteous and professional. The doctor quickly assessed the issue and took me through my options in detail. The staff then helped arrange a follow up meeting with a partner clinic to treat my issue before I left. Thank you so much Legacy team, a very memorable and positive experience.

If you are one of those individuals who are apprehensive about dental procedures like me, this is the best place for you because Dr. Behlke is an incredible Dentist. He replaced several of my old fillings with precision care and my teeth look beautiful. Another plus I really liked is how the office is professional and easy to find.

I went in for Wisdom tooth pain. They had a last minute cancel and I got in there, same day! Which I was extremely thankful for cuz of the intense pain I was experiencing. I was in and out of there, WITH them being able to do the extraction, and X-ray in less than an hour! They were awesome! And! It was a fraction of the cost of what other offices were charging for the procedure. Especially cuz I don’t have insurance. Amazing staff, excellent dentist! 100/100 for me.

I love Legacy! They are everything you need and more. I've needed emergency dental work on a few occasions and they have always gotten me in same day, within the hour most of the time. Every single staff including dentists have been sweet and positive, and have always made me feel comfortable. I avoided going to the dentist most of my life, I just wish I would have known about them sooner.

Compared to my previous (money hungry) dentist, this place is like a golden palace of greatness! Everyone is friendly and accommodating, and they make sure you're comfortable throughout your visit whether it's a routine cleaning or a crown replacement (I had both).
