I graduated from Dental Hygiene School at SLCC in 1999 and started at Legacy Dental shortly after. I have worked as a hygienist since starting at the practice but took on the role of Practice Manager a couple of years ago. I still am lucky enough to see patients once a week but have had the opportunity to learn many new things while working for a practice that makes me feel incredibly proud.
Why did you choose dentistry?
I always knew I would enter the healthcare field. I grew up loving my visits to the dentist. Dental hygiene seemed a profession that would provide the ability to make a difference for patients, as well as a good work/life balance.
What is the best part of your job?
I have two equally favorite aspects of my job: my patients and my co-workers. They provide me with a great deal of happiness. I love catching up with patients, learning about them and their families, as well as developing lifelong friendships with co-workers.
What do you do outside the office?
If I am not at work, I am usually at a baseball game watching one of my two boys play. Baseball has overtaken every vacation, weekend, spring, summer, and fall evening as well as all our extra money, and I would not have it any other way. I try to soak up all these moments that seem to fly by too quickly.
Your Hero: My parents. They are so kind, compassionate, and loving. They have provided me with the most wonderful example of a strong marriage, great parenting, loyalty, and hard work; among so many other admirable attributes.
