Most of us go to the dentist and gauge our health by one number. How many cavities do you have? But is that the number or score that we should be focused on? By the time you have a cavity it’s too late. What if you could determine your risk to get a cavity before you got one and then change of few things in your routine and not get a cavity? Or maybe you can learn that there is nothing to be done for you to prevent cavities and it might make more sense to consider dental implants. It’s possible to know these things and plan accordingly.

Further, gum disease, which affects over 50% of adults, is now associated with a number of serious conditions. Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and strokes, are now being linked to how healthy your gums are. How do you know if you have gum disease? If you do, how can you make sure things are getting better?

Finally, what about oral cancer. What’s your risk? Did you know oral cancer is more common than cervical cancer?

The point is the number of cavities you have is not the only way to determine if your mouth is healthy or not. My Dental Score is a new tool that will help you do a self-assessment of your dental health. You will get a result  that can be helpful to you in determining your risk for the aforementioned diseases and also in developing strategies for prevention and treatment of dental disease.

We encourage you to complete the online test and let us know what questions you have.
